The story

Forty guests, a log fire and fresh snow on the morning of the wedding.

The forecast said rain. It snowed instead, about fifteen centimetres overnight, and Kate and Ollie decided on the spot that their portraits would be outside whatever the cold. We had twenty minutes in the pines behind the lodge before Kate lost the feeling in her hands, and they spent most of it laughing. Then it was back inside to the fire, the speeches and a very long ceilidh.

The couple kissing in deep snow beside snow-covered pines
The bride's veil blowing across the couple's faces as they kiss
The groom holding the bride close as snow falls on them
The groom brushing snow from the bride's face as she smiles up at him

In their words

We said no posed photos and Freya listened. Every one of them looks like us.
